General Information 2018 Season

The Smyrna Dive Team is open to boys and girls ages 4 to 18. No experience is necessary. We will teach you all you need to know! Qualified training is available for all ages and skill levels. Tolleson Pool provides an excellent facility for both training and competition. Practices and meets are scheduled so that divers may also participate on the Smyrna Swim Team.
We are happy to announce our head coach for this year is Bruce Smith, one of the most energetic coaches you will meet. His assistant coach is Abi Koenig.
Dive Team Practice Times: Each diver has a specific practice time either between 8AM to 10 AM M-F or in the evening between 7PM to 8PM M-F. Please contact bruce.a.smith86@gmail.com for any specific questions on your assigned time.

Swimsuit Fittings
The dive and swim team use the same swimsuits. Team suits are not required for the dive team, but they are encouraged (or at least black and/or purple suits or previous years' suits). The "serious" male divers wear the brief style suits ("Speedo" style) but most of the boys tend to wear the jammers - which is what the male swim team members wear as well. Because the suits are customized, they are not returnable or exchangeable.
Schedule
Practice & Meet Schedule: The practice & meet schedule is located on the team calendar. Practices are broken down by age group and divers will need to attend the assigned practice time. Adjustments will ONLY be made to accommodate conflicting swim team practices. Please contact bruce.a.smith86@gmail.com with any questions.

Volunteers Needed
This season we have three home meets. When we host a home dive meet, we will operate a concession stand for divers, their families, and guests. This is a GREAT way to help support the team and offset our costs and keep fees as reasonable as possible. Not to mention, it's the way we are proper hosts to visiting teams. Each diver will have 2 volunteer spots for a parent during the season. We will have sign ups at the parent’s meeting. Following the meeting, volunteer spots will be assigned. Meets are run starting with the youngest age groups first. Therefore, you’ll want to sign up to work opposite your child’s age group. Please note: we need younger divers’ parents to stay after their divers are finished to work the concession stands. This will allow all parents to watch their divers!
In addition to the concession stand, we also need parent volunteers to help record and tabulate diver's scores and help with ribbon writing. We will offer training on how to do work the scoring table. Working at the scoring table will count as one of the two volunteer spots.
