2020 registration. Returning swimmer registration opens March 10th. (If you have a returning swimmer and a new rookie or swimmer in your family, you may register all on the March 10th date.) New swimmers to the team regardless of the program (competitive swim, dive, rookie teams) registration will open March. 17h.
Returning swim families will need a password to register. This will be sent to you, just prior to registration opening. We plan to open registration around 4am on the 1st. Do not share the password with your "new to the team" friends. They will be removed and have to start over on the 17th. New families will receive an email a day or two prior to registration opening, giving them the link to the registration website and complete instructions of how and when to register. You will not need a password. The link will be open at the time indicated in the email and not before. If you try before, you will not have access. If you use our password given to you by a friend, you will be refunded your money and have to start over. This is to keep it fair to all. We fill up fast and many know this, but there is not a way around the process.
The city is working on the pool and our start dates are up in the air. We hope to start for the 11 & ups April 27. May 4th is the planned date for the 10 & unders. Our rookies start is June 1st. Dive team start date will be May 4th.
Dive Team Registration
Dive team is for divers ages 4 to 18 as of May 31. We do not have our 2020 dive schedule yet; however, the dive team traditionally has 5 regular season meets on Wednesday evenings that begin at 5:30 pm. Dive team registration for the 2020 season is $190 per diver, $215 per diver for non-residents of the City of Smyrna. Bruce Smith is returning as the head dive coach.
Swim Team Registration
Our 2020 swim meets will be on Monday evenings this year. The first week is Memorial Holiday so that first week meet will be May 26th. If you are registering new swimmers, you may click here for an overview of our swim programs. Registration for the 2020 Swim teams and Rookies is $170 per swimmer, $185 per swimmer for non-residents of the City of Smyrna. Coaches have requested that we please have swimmers of working parents, who are under age 11, practice during the 7:00am – 8:00am hour. The 7:00am – 8:00am practice hour is open for any age group swimmer who is unable to practice during his/her regularly assigned practice time because of summer camps, evening sports practices, etc. Once school is out, swimmers ages 5 – 8 typically practice from 8:00am – 9:00am, swimmers ages 9 and 10 typically practice from 9:00am – 10:00am, and swimmers ages 11 – 18 typically practice from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. Practices are held Monday through Friday.
If your swimmer is age 4, or your swimmer is age 5 to 8 and is unable to swim a lap of freestyle and backstroke unassisted at swim evaluations, (s)he will be assigned to our Rookie Program. Rookie practices will not begin until the beginning of June.. Our coach to swimmer ratio is much smaller in the Rookie Program and we simply do not have the coaching staff to safely begin the Rookie Program until school is out. Rookies will have morning and evening practice times to choose from. In May, you will be able to sign up for a ½ hour Rookie practice time that will be your Rookie’s practice time for the summer.
Swim evaluations will happen after registration. We will hold registration at the Tolleson pool, prior to the start of rookie practices. Your child may not attend any practice until this evaluation has been completed. Only new swimmers ages 4 to 10 and returning rookies must be evaluated. We may ask swimmers on wait lists, especially 5 - 8 year old swimmers, to come to evaluations as these are the ages of most rookies.
New Swimmers Age 4
All swimmers who are age 4 on or before May 31, 2018, must register as Rookies. The Cobb County Swim League only allows children age 5 or older as of May 31 to swim in meets. To qualify for the Rookies, your child must be able to jump in the water and make it back to the side unassisted. Rookie practices will begin June 1.
New Swimmers age 5 and 6
If you have a swimmer age 5 or 6 as of May 31 who you want to be in the Rookies Program and not on one of the competitive summer league teams, go a team register for the appropriate age group . Please note that swimmers from all 3 teams practice together. All new swimmers who are ages 4 to 10 must be evaluated to make sure they can swim a lap of freestyle and backstroke unassisted to be on one of the 3 teams.
New Swimmers Ages 7 to 18
All new swimmers who are ages 7 to 18 as of May 31 should register in their appropriate age group. We will make team assignments in May after time trials. All new swimmers who are ages 4 to 10 must be evaluated to make sure they can swim a lap of freestyle and backstroke unassisted to be on one of the 3 swim teams. Please note that all teams practice together.
I tried to register and it said there is a wait list, now what? Our 12 and under age groups are very popular and when you try to register, you may find there is already a wait list for your younger swimmer(s). Please go ahead and complete the registration process and add your swimmer to the wait list. Once we begin swim assessments, we are usually able to offer many wait listed swimmers the opportunity to join one of our teams. You will not be asked to pay, nor will the software allow you to pay, until you are released from the wait list.
