Rookie practices will not begin until the beginning of June.. Our coach to swimmer ratio is much smaller in the Rookie Program and we simply do not have the coaching staff to safely begin the Rookie Program until school is out. Rookies will have morning and evening practice times to choose from. In May, you will be able to sign up for a ½ hour Rookie practice time that will be your Rookie’s practice time for the summer. Swim evaluations will happen after registration. We will hold registration at the Tolleson pool, prior to the start of rookie practices. Your child may not attend any practice until this evaluation has been completed. Only new swimmers ages 4 to 10 and returning rookies must be evaluated. We may ask swimmers on wait lists, especially 5 - 8 year old swimmers, to come to evaluations as these are the ages of most rookies. Our 12 and under age groups are very popular and when you try to register, you may find there is already a wait list for your younger swimmer(s). Please go ahead and complete the registration process and add your swimmer to the wait list. Once we begin swim assessments, we are usually able to offer many waitlisted swimmers the opportunity to join one of our teams. You will not be asked to pay, nor will the software allow you to pay, until you are released from the wait list. Why are there wait lists? We need to make sure we don't end up with too many swimmers in one age group on either team. Typically, the 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12 age groups are our largest groups. We are allowed only 120 swimmers total at each meet and if we end up with too many swimmers in one age group, it will not be enjoyable for swimmers in that group. We typically keep about 150-160 swimmers on each team's roster so we can get close to the 120 swimmer total each meet. We know you have vacations and other activities scheduled so these numbers have worked out for a long time. We can guarantee all swimmers will swim in at least 4 of the 5 meets.
